Faranah

"Travel? Count me in! Heels? I would certainly give it a try. Go Tribal? Could I hide a few rhinestones in my turban?"

Faranah inherited a love for dancing from her father and remembers dancing around the living room to Lawrence Welk. Unfortunately, her experience with formal training was not so positive. She was pulled out of ballet/tap/baton class by her mother at the age of four, who decided the stress of classes made her “too cranky." A semester of ballet in college only reinforced her assumption that dance was not for her.

Disappointed, but resigned, she turned her attentions to medicine and martial arts, eventually earning a degree and a black belt. In 2001, a friend suggested signing up for a belly dance class at the local community college. It was love at first hip drop!

Since that time, rhinestones, glitter, and sequins have taken over Faranah’s closet and her life. Being a bellydancer has improved her self confidence, brought wonderful new friends into her life, and bought out her inner glitter queen.
