Sahibat was reborn in March, 2005 when Rose Champagne heard the Universe calling for it to come together.

Rose and Faranah, an original member and Rhinestone Mistress of the first Sahibat, shared the desire to rekindle the flame of the troupe.

As our former Artistic Directress, choreographer and mentor, Rose's passion for directing, creating, teaching and nurturing sacred sisterhood was unsurpassed, and Sahibat is truly grateful to her. The troupe carries on her legacy by performing her choreographed dances and by creating new dances inspired by her teachings.

The Troupe's dances are rooted in the ancient belly dance traditions of the Middle East and infused with modern, creative expression. Their lyrical movements and rhythmic vibrancy are both contagious and captivating.

Honoring the powerful connection of sisterhood, Sahibat (which means "girlfriends" in Arabic) celebrates the spirit of life through dance. Each dancer brings her own unique dance talents and life experiences to every performance. The members of Sahibat perform drum solos, oriental style, fantasy gypsy and Rom, folkloric, and modern fusion. Their crisp precision of movement and passionate love of the dance energizes and delights their audiences.
